Gas production from Phase 11 of the South Pars Gas Field, which has increased from approximately 410 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) to around 840 MMscfd under the 14th Administration, is now on the verge of surpassing 910 MMscfd with the completion and commissioning of the eleventh well.
According to the Group’s CEO, Petropars, as one of the subsidiaries of the Ministry of Petroleum, is set to bring three new wells online within the next four weeks. This development will contribute to strengthening production sustainability and energy supply.
According to a report by the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Petropars Group, Dr. Hamidreza Saghafi, CEO of Petropars Group, announced an increase in production capacity at South Pars Phase 11 and simultaneous progress in the project’s implementation activities, stating that with the completion and commissioning of the eleventh well, gas production from the phase is on the verge of exceeding 910 million standard cubic feet per day.
Referring to the growing production trend in Phase 11, Dr. Saghafi stated that gas production from the phase, which stood at approximately 410 MMscfd at the beginning of the 14th Administration, has now reached around 840 MMscfd. He added that with the eleventh well coming on stream, production is expected to surpass 910 MMscfd.
The CEO of Petropars Group also announced the company’s short-term plan to increase production in its other active projects, adding that three new wells in Petropars Group’s active projects in the Persian Gulf will enter the production cycle within less than four weeks.
According to Dr. Saghafi, this measure is being implemented as part of the Group’s development plans in the shared South Pars field, which supplies half of the country’s natural gas. Increasing production from this field will play a direct role in maintaining the stability of the national gas network.
The CEO of Petropars Group further emphasized that drilling operations in Petropars projects have continued over recent months, even during the period of war and despite operational restrictions and logistical challenges.
He stated that following the ceasefire, activities resumed rapidly. The first offshore drilling rigs that returned to operation in the Persian Gulf after these interruptions were deployed in Petropars projects. He further noted that the last offshore drilling rig that continued drilling operations in the Persian Gulf until March 25, 2026, was stationed at the South Pars Phase 11 project.
Dr. Saghafi also noted that the installation of the jacket structure in the offshore section of Phase 11 has been successfully completed. He explained that after load-out, securing, and transportation, the structure was installed at its designated location on the seabed of the Persian Gulf and that pile-driving operations are currently underway for its final stabilization. At the same time, construction of the platform topside is continuing with significant progress at the ISOICO yard.
Ali Nadiran, Project Director of South Pars Phase 11 Development at Petropars Group, also commented on the progress of the project, stating that the project’s recent achievements are the result of continuous coordination among executive, technical, and management teams.
He added that support and coordination at the Group’s senior management level, along with the round-the-clock efforts of colleagues in drilling, operations, engineering, and contracting departments, have played an important role in maintaining operational continuity and advancing the project under complex operating conditions.
Nadiran further emphasized that the development of Phase 11 and the increase in production from the phase are part of the oil industry’s broader strategy to enhance recovery from the shared South Pars field. He noted that this strategic field accounts for the largest share of the country’s gas supply and that every step in its development has a direct impact not only on production levels but also on energy security and the stability of gas supply.
In conclusion, Dr. Hamidreza Saghafi, CEO of Petropars Group, emphasized that these achievements are the result of close cooperation among the client, contractors, executive teams, and the support of the country’s oil industry. He stated that these accomplishments demonstrate that the path toward expanding the country’s gas production capacity will continue with strength.
It is worth noting that Petropars Group, as the executive arm of the Ministry of Petroleum, is recognized as the country’s largest exploration and production (E&P) company. The company plays a significant executive role in both onshore and offshore South Pars projects, which supply half of the country’s natural gas demand.
The development of this field and the progress achieved in Phase 11, as one of the country’s most important oil and gas projects, represent a clear example of continued development and constitute an important part of the company’s track record and operational capabilities.
