The Outcome of Cohesion Between Pars Oil and Gas Company and Petropars Group
A National Leap in Gas Production: Doubling Output Capacity at Border Phase 11 of South Pars in the Fourteenth Government
Through the efforts of Iranian specialists, drilling of the tenth well at Location B of Phase 11 of the South Pars Gas Field has been successfully completed.
According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Petropars Group, Dr. Hamidreza Saghafi, CEO of Petropars Group, announced the successful completion of drilling operations for the tenth well on Platform B of Phase 11. He stated that the well will soon be connected to the production network and is expected to secure an additional 2.5 million cubic meters per day of natural gas to the national grid.
Referring to the development trajectory of this strategic phase, Dr. Saghafi noted that drilling operations at Phase 11—located at the border-most section of the shared South Pars field—commenced in 2020 under the Twelfth Government and continued during the Thirteenth Government. However, the operational leap and the doubling of production capacity at Phase 11 have been realized over the past 17 months under the Fourteenth Government. He emphasized that this achievement is the result of effective coordination and institutional alignment between Pars Oil and Gas Company as the project employer and Petropars Group, fully relying on domestic capabilities and sustained round-the-clock efforts by technical teams.
The CEO further acknowledged that despite these advancements, the country’s gas imbalance is a structural issue accumulated over several years and cannot be resolved overnight. Nevertheless, specialized oil and gas teams remain fully mobilized to mitigate shortages and strengthen national energy security.
Ali Naderan, Project Manager for Phase 11 Development at Petropars Group, provided technical details of the operation, stating that drilling of well SPD11B-14 successfully penetrated the Fahliyan formation, executed a 50-degree deviation, and achieved rapid casing running with full safety compliance and without operational interruption. He underscored that this accomplishment reflects meticulous planning and continuous coordination among Phase 11 technical teams.
