With the commissioning of the second train of the Central Treatment and Export Plant (CTEP) at the South Azadegan joint oil field, the field’s operational capacity has reached 160,000 barrels per day, thereby accelerating the trajectory of sustained production growth.
According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of the PetroPars Group, Dr. Hamidreza Saghafi, Chief Executive Officer of Petropars Group, underscored the critical importance of developing processing infrastructure in the South Azadegan field. He noted that the central processing unit has been designed with four trains, each with a nominal capacity of 80,000 barrels per day. This facility performs key processes, including the separation of water, salts, and sediments, regulation of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) levels, and control of steam pressure. With the commissioning of the second train, the operational capacity of the unit has now reached 160,000 barrels per day, while the remaining two trains are scheduled for completion within the next three months.
Dr. Saghafi further stated that over the past 15 months, Petropars Group, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Petroleum, the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), and the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC), has successfully implemented several projects. These initiatives included the drilling, completion, and acidizing of 12 wells, as well as the commissioning of wellhead facilities for 30 wells, collectively resulting in an approximate increase of 60,000 barrels per day in production capacity.
Referring to additional well-related activities, the CEO of Petropars Group announced that operations for the installation of Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESPs) will commence next week. He emphasized that, through the gradual reactivation of wells that have experienced production decline or temporary shutdown, the field’s production capacity will be enhanced in a sustainable manner.
In conclusion, Dr. Saghafi stressed that these achievements are the outcome of effective synergy among the National Iranian Oil Company, the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company, and Petropars Group, as a competent and executive arm of the Ministry of Petroleum. He remarked that today, South Azadegan stands as a clear symbol of efficient project management, the safeguarding of national hydrocarbon resources, and reliance on domestic expertise and technological capabilities.
