This morning, construction activities officially began for the national “Sardar Shahid Hossein Hemdani Solar Power Plant”, a 550-MWh renewable energy project located in Saveh County. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by the Minister of Energy, Dr. Ali-Abadi, Petropars Group CEO Dr. Hamid-Reza Saghafi, the Governor of Markazi Province, and a number of provincial and local officials.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Petropars Group, Dr. Saghafi expressed his deep appreciation for the guidance, strategic direction, and strong support of the Minister of Petroleum, noting that this project represents a tangible step toward realizing the Ministry’s broader policy objectives for energy diversification and the expansion of renewable energy infrastructure.

He further stated that the project’s financing model—based on minimal reliance on domestic resources and the effective utilization of international investment capacities—serves as an innovative blueprint for implementing future large-scale clean energy projects.

Dr. Saghafi also emphasized the significance of Petropars’ recent achievements, noting:

“Almost concurrently with the initiation of this solar power plant, and with the direct support of the Minister of Petroleum, the third and fourth gas sweetening trains of South Pars Phase 14 were commissioned in the shortest possible timeframe through the round-the-clock efforts of Petropars teams and the esteemed project owners. These milestones constitute strategic contributions to ensuring the stable supply of natural gas in the country.”

During the ceremony, the Minister of Energy praised Petropars’ entry into the solar power sector, stating that Petropars has already demonstrated its capabilities in South Pars and is now taking a major step toward sustainable development and national energy self-sufficiency by entering the field of renewable energy.

Dr. Saghafi concluded by announcing that planning has begun for two additional major solar projects:

a 200-MW solar power plant in Yazd, and a 1,000-MW large-scale solar facility in Arak,

both to be developed in the near future. He affirmed that this path will be pursued with determination, the continued support of the Ministry of Petroleum, and the exceptional dedication of Petropars’ human capital.
