Commissioning of the First Gas Sweetening Train of South Pars Phase 14 Following the Startup of Trains 3 and 4
Under challenging operational conditions influenced by recent regional security threats, the first gas sweetening train of the South Pars Phase 14 Refinery has been successfully commissioned through the continuous efforts of Petropars Group and the esteemed project owners. This achievement follows the earlier successful startup of Trains 3 and 4 of the same refinery.
According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Petropars Group, Dr. Hamid-Reza Saghafi, CEO of Petropars Group, stated that with the commissioning of this unit, all three processing trains currently available—Trains 1, 3, and 4—are now fully operational. He further announced that gas export from Train 1 has officially commenced.
Dr. Saghafi emphasized that this success was realized despite severe operational constraints, including heightened security risks and logistical limitations in the region. Nevertheless, Petropars personnel, through their technical expertise, strong commitment, and a collaborative “mission-driven” spirit, were able to overcome all obstacles.
He noted that this accomplishment marks a significant step toward ensuring the country’s stable national energy supply, particularly through enhanced gas processing capacity in the South Pars field. The startup of Train 1 strengthens the nation’s ability to meet winter fuel demand and contributes directly to the expansion of Iran’s energy export capabilities.
Dr. Saghafi extended his sincere appreciation to all engineers, specialists, and operational teams involved in the project, as well as to the supportive project owners and officials of the Ministry of Petroleum. He expressed hope that, with the continuation of this collaborative momentum, full commissioning of all remaining facilities of Phase 14 will be achieved in the near future.
