New Milestone for Petropars in the South Azadegan Oil Field
Petropars Group has achieved a new production milestone in the South Azadegan oil field by bringing Fahlyan Well No. 52 online, adding 3,000 barrels per day (bpd) to the country’s crude oil output and raising the total field production to 61,900 bpd.
According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Petropars Group, the new production well was successfully commissioned on 18 Shahrivar 1404 (8 September 2025), increasing the total number of operational wells delivered by Petropars in South Azadegan to 37 wells. This achievement aligns with the Ministry of Petroleum’s strategic objectives to enhance production from joint oil fields and increase the national crude oil recovery factor.
Dr. Hamid-Reza Saghafi, CEO of Petropars Group, underscored the significance of this accomplishment, stating:
“Expanding production capacity in South Azadegan is the direct result of the expertise and dedication of Iranian specialists. This achievement marks another step toward fulfilling the Ministry of Petroleum’s policies for the development of joint fields and strengthening the country’s production capabilities. Today, the devoted professionals of Petropars have once again demonstrated their ability to drive substantial progress within Iran’s oil industry.”
Engineer Ebrahim Nari, Director of the South Azadegan Development Project at Petropars Group, provided additional technical insight, noting:
“The completion operations for Well No. 52 were carried out using advanced engineering methodologies and state-of-the-art downhole equipment, resulting in enhanced production stability and improved reservoir performance.”
He added that Petropars had recently increased daily production by an additional 8,000 barrels through the commissioning of two other new wells in South Azadegan, bringing total production to nearly 59,000 bpd prior to the most recent increase.
