Russia Sees Iran as a Sanctions-Era Role Model
Following the signing of the cooperation MoU between the Russian Oil and Gas Union and Petropars Group, Nikolai Isakov—Vice President and Executive Director of the Union—praised Iran’s oil and gas industry and commended Petropars for its outstanding capabilities and track record.
According to Petropars' Public Relations and International Affairs Department, Isakov emphasized that Iran has developed a distinct and resilient model in the oil and gas sector.
“Iran stands as a powerful example of progress under sanctions,” he said. “Its experience in achieving technological and operational independence in challenging conditions is an invaluable reference for Russia. We hope to learn from Iran’s strategies and accelerate our own development.”
In response to a question regarding why Petropars was chosen as the Russian Union’s partner, Isakov explained:
“Our representatives in Iran conducted a thorough review of the technical competencies and past performance of Petropars. Based on professional evaluations, we confidently selected Petropars as our cooperation partner and signed this agreement today at their exhibition booth.”
Looking ahead, Isakov outlined his vision for the partnership:
“We aim to share resources and capabilities in a balanced and mutually beneficial way. This cooperation marks the beginning of a deeper and more productive relationship in joint energy projects.”
He concluded by stating that the agreement represents a meaningful step toward strengthening Iran-Russia industrial ties and unlocking joint potential in the global oil and gas market.
