Dr. Hamidreza Saghafi, CEO of Petropars Group, announced the successful completion of major overhaul operations on the SPD11B platform of South Pars Phase 11, ahead of schedule and with significant time and cost savings—thanks to the use of domestic expertise and technology.

According to the Group’s Public Relations and International Affairs Department, Dr. Saghafi stated that due to the critical need for continuous production and the technical constraints of performing maintenance during operational periods, meticulous planning was undertaken to execute the overhaul during a limited 10-day production shutdown.

Engineering work and procurement of required equipment began months in advance, ensuring precision and efficiency throughout the process.

Following approval of Petropars’ proposed overhaul plan by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), operations began on May 15, 2025.

Although the project had official clearance to continue through June 3, all key targets were achieved by May 22, including successful leak testing and flare ignition—marking the platform’s full return to production readiness.

Dr. Saghafi emphasized that the early reactivation of the SPD11B platform significantly contributes to synergy across the gas production network and enhances national energy management.

“This success is a clear demonstration of Petropars’ capability as Iran’s largest E&P company to overcome challenges and deliver on national objectives.”

He further noted that the project was fully executed with Iranian expertise after foreign contractors failed to honor their commitments—making the achievement both technically and strategically significant.
