Venezuelan Deputy Minister: Petropars, a Key Partner in Venezuela’s Energy Development

  2025 May 08
On the sidelines of the opening day of the 29th Iran International Oil, Gas, Refining, and Petrochemical Exhibition, the Venezuelan Ambassador to Iran and senior officials from Venezuela’s Ministry of Petroleum met with Dr. Hamidreza Saghafi, CEO of Petropars Group, and the company’s board members. The two sides emphasized strengthening and continuing cooperation in Venezuela’s oil and gas sector.

According to Petropars' Public Relations and International Affairs Department, Carlos Eduardo Canlón—Deputy Minister of Refining and Petrochemicals and Head of Oil Technology at Venezuela’s Ministry of Petroleum—told reporters that the primary goal of his visit to Iran and the Petropars booth was to expand collaboration in oil and petrochemical projects with the Group.

He highlighted Petropars’ proven technical capabilities and extensive track record in oil and gas operations as key reasons for pursuing closer cooperation. Canlón stressed that Venezuela, with its vast hydrocarbon resources, welcomes broader partnerships with Iranian firms such as Petropars to drive energy sector development.

He praised Petropars' advanced technical expertise and engineering proficiency, stating:

“Petropars is a well-known name in the oil and gas sector. Its strong capabilities have made us eager to enhance and expand our cooperation.”

It is worth noting that Petropars has collaborated with Venezuela’s Ministry of Petroleum since 2010 on projects such as the development of the Dobokubi oil field and the expansion of storage capacity at the José oil export terminal.
