South Pars Gas Field Compression Contracts Signed in Presence of President
The strategic compression project for the South Pars Gas Field officially entered its operational phase following the signing of contracts valued at approximately $17 billion, in a ceremony attended by Iran’s President and senior energy executives
According to Petropars’ Public Relations and International Affairs Office, the compression plan aims to:
Compensate for natural reservoir pressure decline, Sustain maximum gas production,Reduce gas and gasoline supply imbalances,Prevent gas migration to Qatar from the shared reservoir.
With these contracts in place, Iran is set to safeguard its energy security and address rising domestic and industrial energy demands.
Implementation of the compression project is expected to create 17,000 direct jobs and 50,000 indirect jobs, significantly contributing to the country’s employment landscape and economic resilience.
The move represents a pivotal moment for Iran’s oil and gas sector, ensuring that South Pars—the world’s largest gas field—continues to play its critical role in powering the nation's economy.
