Installation of the Bilal Platform Jacket Begins in the Persian Gulf

  2025 March 18
On the occasion of National Oil Industry Day and the arrival of the New Year, Petropars Group successfully launched the installation operations for the Bilal gas field platform jacket in the Persian Gulf, marking another major step in the development of Iran's offshore gas fields.

According to Petropars' Public Relations and International Affairs Office, Dr. Hamidreza Saghafi, CEO of Petropars, emphasized that the installation of the Bilal platform jacket—located near the Iran-Qatar maritime border—was made possible through the collaboration of Petropars’ experts and engineers, with support from Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), and the Iranian Offshore Industrial Company (SADRA).

The jacket, weighing 3,100 tons and standing 75 meters high, is being installed in 65 meters of water depth using the Sadra 5000 heavy lift vessel, following a precise lift method.

Dr. Saghafi noted that this accomplishment is not only the result of technical expertise and tireless efforts of Petropars’ workforce but also a testament to the spirit of unity and cooperation towards achieving the nation’s strategic energy goals.

He added that pile driving and installation of associated components are scheduled to be completed in the coming days, advancing the project further toward full operational readiness.

In closing, Dr. Saghafi congratulated all team members on this achievement and expressed hope that the Bilal project would soon contribute to Iran's national energy development and safeguard the country’s energy security.
