During a high-level meeting between the oil ministers of Iran and Iraq, Petropars Group announced its readiness to actively participate in Iraq’s oil and gas sector, leveraging its technical and operational expertise.

According to Petropars’ Public Relations and International Affairs Office, Dr. Hamidreza Saghafi, CEO of the group, emphasized Petropars’ full capabilities in large-scale energy projects and called for the establishment of joint technical and expert meetings between the two neighboring countries.

In a presentation to Iranian and Iraqi ministers and their delegations, Dr. Saghafi outlined Petropars’ extensive achievements, highlighting over 673 million man-hours of operational work and more than 305,000 meters of drilling onshore and offshore, with a total project value exceeding $1.33 billion.

“These figures are a testament to our technical and managerial strength in implementing mega oil and gas projects,” he said.

Dr. Saghafi underlined Petropars’ solid track record in upstream activities, stating that the company is prepared to contribute its expertise to Iraq’s energy development in alignment with the strategic objectives of Iran’s Ministry of Petroleum.

As a result of the meeting, both sides agreed to hold joint expert sessions in the near future to explore avenues of cooperation.

It is noteworthy that Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad visited Iraq in late April at the invitation of his Iraqi counterpart, Hayyan Abdulghani. The visit, which resulted in four cooperation agreements between Iranian and Iraqi energy firms, reflects Iran’s active and strategic oil diplomacy in the region.
