Iran Expands Gas Output by 200 Million Cubic Feet per Day with New Wells in South Pars Phase 11
The CEO of Petropars Group announced a significant milestone in Iran's energy sector: the addition of 200 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) to the country's gas production capacity, achieved through the commissioning of new wells in Phase 11 of the South Pars gas field.
According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Petropars, Dr. Hamidreza Saghafi emphasized the importance of this national achievement, stating that two new wells were drilled and connected to the 11B platform following successful intelligent pigging and pipeline cleaning operations. These efforts, combined with comprehensive infrastructure preparations, led to the wells being brought into production.
“This daily production boost will play a critical role in balancing the country’s gas supply and demand, particularly during peak consumption seasons,” Saghafi said.
He noted that the intelligent pigging operations—utilizing Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) and Transverse Field Inspection (TFI) technologies—began on the first day of the new year (March 20, 2025) and were successfully completed by April 5. The safe and precise execution of these operations, he added, lays the groundwork for reliable production from Phase 11 and contributes to national energy security.
Saghavi also referenced the earlier commissioning of the 11B platform’s pipeline in August 2023, which had been connected to the 32-inch SP12C pipeline. With the integration of these two new wells, the production capacity of Phase 11 has seen a meaningful increase.
He expressed his appreciation for the support of the client, Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), highlighting that this achievement was the result of strong collaboration between Petropars, the client, and other key players in Iran’s oil and gas industry.
“In pursuing national energy objectives, this synergy has been a decisive factor,” Saghafi said, affirming Petropars’ continued commitment to working alongside the Ministry of Petroleum in the strategic development of shared fields and boosting the country’s energy output.
