Managing Director of Petropars Group Briefs President Rouhani in a Live Video Connection on Stages of Erection of the First Jacket of Phase 11 of South Pars

In a live video connection with President Rouhani, the Managing Director of Petropars Group said, “After erection of the first Jacket of Phase 11, which is aimed at producing 28.5 million cubic feet of gas on a daily basis, at the first stage the operations for drilling of 5 wells will commence and subsequently the operations will continue for drilling of 7 more wells.”

According to a report released by the Public Relations and International Affairs Department of Petropars Group, in the course of the ceremonies which were held, through live video connection with President Rouhani’s Administration, in connection with erection of the Jacket of the first platform of Phase 11 of South Pars Gas Field, the Managing Director of Petropars Group said, “At this moment we have 120 km to sail to Assaluyeh Port at the Persian Gulf waters in the border block of Phase 11 of the joint South Pars Gas Field. Your Excellency, as you are aware, we fortunately managed to have the first offshore structure of Phase 11, i.e. Jacket 11B, successfully loaded at Qeshm Island on Ordibehesht 11, 1399. Upon loading of the Jacket, the harness operations were carried out on the vessel carrying the Jacket and as the climate conditions proved suitable, the vessel left Qeshm Island to arrive at its destination at South Pars, Fortunately, the Jacket is presently ready for erection at Phase 11 field.”

To brief President Rouhani on the technical specifications of the Jacket, Engineer Masoudi commented, “The Jacket and its accessories weigh 2,200 tons and its height measures some 80 meters with 4 piers which are stabilized at their place using 4 point-bearing piles the length of each of which measures some 170 meters. Each one of the point-bearing piles will penetrate, by hammering opeartins, some 90 meters deep into the bed of the Persian Gulf in order to fully stabilize the Jacket.”

Engineer Masoudi noted, “350,000 man/hours of work have been performed for the fabrication of the Jacket and we are extremely happy to say that we sustained no mishap and no incident whatsoever in the course of the executive operations performed to this end. Further, the design and fabrication of the Jacket were fully and completely performed by domestic Iranian consultants, designers and contractors.”

The Managing Director of Petropars Group went on to add, ““Upon erection of the Jacket at its place at Phase 11B, which is the closest point to our border with Qatar, the drilling rig will be deployed by the side of the 4 piers which will be used for the drilling of 5 wells at the first stage to produce 500 million cubic feet of enriched sour gas. However, upon erection of the wellhead platform, it will prove feasible to drill the second 7 wells for production of one billion cubic feet per day, almost equal to 28.5 million cubic meters on a daily basis of enriched sour gas out of Phase 11.”
