Petropars CEO Reports Roll-Up Operation of WHP-1 Jacket in Farzad-B Completed Successfully
The CEO of Petropars Group announced the successful execution of the roll-up operation for the WHP-1 wellhead platform jacket of the Farzad-B Project. He emphasized that the operation was carried out fully safely this morning, and the jacket will soon be installed at its designated offshore location.
According to Petropars’ Public Relations and International Affairs Department, Dr. Saghafi stated that Farzad-B—a shared gas field—is being developed with the aim of producing 1,000 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, including two wellhead platforms (each with four wells), one water-intake platform, one accommodation platform, and onshore gas processing and export facilities.
He described the completed activities:
“These efforts include: site selection studies for onshore facilities at Pars-3, initiation of engineering studies for onshore and offshore facilities, preparation of the WHP-1 jacket for offshore installation, and procurement of part of the drilling materials.”
He noted that the WHP-1 jacket is being manufactured in Khorramshahr by the Iran Marine Industrial Company (Sadra). The offshore structure weighs 1,586 tons, with 976-ton piles and a 111-ton temporary drilling deck (TDD). It will be installed at a height of 20.6 meters in approximately 54 meters of water in the Persian Gulf.
Dr. Saghafi emphasized the challenging drilling conditions expected due to the high pressure, high temperature, and elevated concentrations of H₂S and CO₂, noting that the drilling rig is expected to be deployed in the coming months.
He reiterated that Petropars, as the trusted execution arm of the Ministry of Petroleum, is developing the shared Farzad-B field under a buyback contract, leveraging its experience from South Pars shared-field projects and relying on Iranian technical expertise and national contractor cooperation.
