Petropars CEO Announces: Drilling and Completion of SPD1-9 Infill Well Achieved by Petropars Experts
Petropars Group has successfully drilled and completed the second gas well of the Infill Drilling Project on the SPD-1 platform of South Pars Phase 1, relying on Iranian engineering expertise and completing the work safely and ahead of schedule—a milestone that will enhance production capacity and strengthen the technical capabilities of the national drilling industry.
According to Petropars’ Public Relations and International Affairs Department, the company—recognized as the pioneering entity in South Pars Infill Drilling Projects—has successfully drilled and completed the second gas well of the SPD-1 platform.
Announcing the achievement, Dr. Hamidreza Saghafi stated:
“Drilling and completing well SPD1-9 in one of the most complex geological zones of the South Pars reservoir was accomplished by Petropars’ skilled experts who, relying on Iranian engineering knowledge and with strong support from POGC as the project client, completed this well safely, precisely, and significantly ahead of the original schedule.”
He emphasized the importance of this achievement:
“The successful drilling and completion of this well is a major step toward enhancing production capacity, improving the energy balance, and demonstrating the capabilities of the country’s drilling industry. This success reflects the determination, cohesion, technical maturity, and sense of responsibility of my colleagues at Petropars.”
The CEO also expressed appreciation for the efforts of all personnel and the cooperation of POGC:

Mr, Shahab Bastami, CEO of Petropars Oil Services Company (POSCO) and a subsidiary of Petropars Group, elaborated on the operation:
“Despite the complexities and sensitivities of drilling on platform SPD-1, well SPD1-9 was executed and completed entirely safely, drawing on lessons learned from well SPD1-10 and the expertise of POSCO specialists.”
He added that the achievement would not have been possible without the coordination of operational teams and the support of POGC as the project client.
It is noteworthy that, following the drilling and completion of all eight Infill wells by Petropars, the country’s gas production capacity will increase by 800 million cubic feet per day.
