Petropars Launches Drilling of Development Wells in the Balal Project
The drilling operations for development wells in the Balal Project officially commenced today, marking the project’s entry into one of its most critical execution phases—a stage that plays a vital role in achieving the target of producing 500 million cubic feet of natural gas per day and helping to offset the country’s gas supply deficit.
Petropars Group is proud to announce that, today and at a decisive moment for the Balal Project, drilling operations for the development wells have officially begun. This milestone follows the installation of the drilling rig and the completion of all preparatory tasks, representing a defining step toward achieving the daily production target of 500 million cubic feet of natural gas and contributing to the mitigation of the national gas imbalance.
Dr. Hamidreza Saghafi, CEO of Petropars Group, highlighting the project’s upward trajectory, stated:
“Following the successful installation of the jacket in June 2025 and the remarkable progress of deck construction—from approximately 4% in September 2024 to more than 34% in November 2025—the Balal Project has now entered the decisive phase of drilling development wells. This achievement is the result of the tireless efforts of Petropars’ offshore and onshore specialists.”
He added that the simultaneous implementation of jacket construction and installation, well drilling, deck fabrication, pipeline installation, and infrastructure preparation reflects Petropars’ technical and managerial maturity in executing complex offshore projects. According to him, the scheduling has been designed so that, upon completion of drilling and pipeline installation, the deck will be installed on the jacket without the slightest delay, enabling the start of production as planned.
Expressing gratitude to the staff, the CEO stated:
“We take great pride in our hardworking Petropars colleagues. Your dedication, expertise, and round-the-clock efforts have been the driving force behind this progress, and your contribution to this national achievement is truly commendable.”
He also expressed appreciation for the unwavering support of the project’s client, Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), noting that such collaboration played a key role in accelerating project progress.
Mr, Shahriari, Project Manager of Balal, emphasized:
“The simultaneous advancement of drilling operations, deck construction, and pipeline installation is the result of precise coordination between onshore and offshore teams and demonstrates that, through its technical and managerial capabilities, Petropars is successfully delivering a benchmark offshore project.”
With the official commencement of drilling today and the concurrent progress in deck construction and pipeline activities, the Balal Project is moving powerfully toward gas production—an achievement that stands as a symbol of Iranian engineering capability and a source of pride for the Petropars family.
