Phase 1 of the Project for South Pars Gas Field Development was assigned to Petropars Limited, within the scheme of a buy-back contract, by Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) in January1998 (Dey 1377). Phase 1 is located in the southern part of South Pars Gas Field.
The Onshore Section of Phase 1, which borders the Persian Gulf in Assaluyeh (approximately 270 km East-South of Bushehr Port) measures 141 hectares at Pars Special Economic Energy Zone. The wells and offshore platforms of this Project are located 105 km away from the Persian Gulf Coast. Phase 1 of South Pars Gas Field Development Project was designed to have 1 billion cubic feet of gas extracted, on a daily basis, from 12 wells situated on 2 satellite well-head platforms in order to have the same transferred to the processing platforms for dehumidification. Subsequently, the same is transferred to the Onshore Section through a 32” pipeline for sweetening by the onshore facilities in order to be injected into IGAT III National Gas Grid. The condensates separated in the Refinery Section are exported through sub-sea pipeline and SBM. Development of Phase 1of South Pars Gas Field greatly contributed to promotion of knowledge and expertise of Iranian contractors for execution of mega gas projects.
